Munich-based HR and recruiting platform Personio has raised $40 million in series B funding, the start-up announced this week.

The round was led by technology investor Index Ventures, which invests in companies like DropBox and Slack. Personio’s former investors NorthZone and Global Founders Capital also took part.

The company offers an HR and recruiting platform for small and medium-sized companies to help them hire and manage 10 to 1,000 employees.

It provides features like attendance tracking, payroll accounting, and document management. The site also lets business list job opening on up to 100 job boards. 

Co-founder and CEO Hanno Renner (LinkedIn profile) said the fresh funds will be used to “develop the best solution for existing and future clients” and “to expand to further European markets.”

The company currently has 150 employees and 1,000 clients in 35 countries.
