Sri Lankan youth now have a new comprehensive career management site at YouLead.lk where they can find vacancies, apprenticeship opportunities, and career guidance. The site recieved $12 million U.S. in funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
YouLead is a four-year project which aims to advertise 40,000 new jobs, place 97,000 young candidates and see 2,700 youth involved in apprenticeship programs. It will also provide financial services.
“YouLead is not just a platform; it’s an ecosystem that will grow and expand as more youth will become part of the community, providing leverage to their ideas and ventures,” USAID mission director Reed Aeschliman told DailyNews. “It is expected that close to 20,000 users will be connected with the YouLead.lk web portal by end of 2019.”
