Tokyo-based brokerage and consultancy firm Ultimate Research Institute launched UchiComi in November 2016. The company also runs a property trading site called Revo. The rental room site doesn’t charge agent and listing fees. It promotes direct communication between landlords and tenants via mobile chat. The marketplace currently lists more than 44,500 rooms from Kanto, Kansai, Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Nara, Tokai, Aichi, and Kyushu.

Yamamoto was inducted as a supporter of the company. It is now becoming common for online businesses to hire ambassadors to promote their brands. Property company Lifull Home’s appointed Yuto Nagatomo as a brand ambassador while job-matching service ReJob Inc. took famous Japanese singer Ami Nakashima onboard as a “cheer ambassador”.

Other rental room search engines in Japan are EHeya, StudenDorm.comGakuRoom.jp, Wagaya-Japan.com, and Aru-R.com.
