WeAreDevelopers GmbH, a Vienna-based recruitment marketplace for software developers, has received an undisclosed investment from German media group Heise Medien GmbH &Co. KG.

Heise Medien has bought 10.1 percent of WeAreDevelopers through the investment. The capital injection will be used to expand the job platform WeAreDevelopers Talents internationally. The site connects software developers and tech companies worldwide. WeAreDevelopers also organizes an annual congress for developers.

“Through this step, we accelerate the internationalization of our platform,” founders Benjamin Ruschin, Thomas Pamminger, and Sead Ahmetovic said in a statement.  “The focus is on the expertise, the know-how and the attractiveness of the companies for software developers.”

Together, the companies aim to create attractive content and serve the European software development community. Heise Medien owns IT publications like Heise Online, C’t, IX, Technology Review, Make, Mac & I, and Retro Gamer. “With our operative cooperation, we want to continue to distinguish ourselves in the European developer scene,” Heise Media MD Alfons Schrader said.

The other shareholders of WeAreDevelopers include Factory Berlin founder Udo Schloemer, Code University founder Thomas Bachem, the founder of Primed Group Fedor Holz, the CEO of the Compass Group Niki Futter, and I5invest.
