Following a string of recent partnership announcements and new features, leading Singapore-based online marketplace Shopee has teamed up with L’Oreal to bring AR and AI-powered tools to its platform.

Leveraging augmented reality, the platform hopes to improve customer satisfaction by offering a try-before-you-buy service. Its latest feature, known as BeautyCam by ModiFace, claims to provide photorealistic results via a mobile phone camera. It allows customers to better assess the suitability of products before they buy.

Another L’Oreal tool, Effaclar Spotscan by La Roche-Posay, uses AI technology to give customers an analysis of their skin condition along with a personalized Effaclar routine to tackle their specific problems.

The BeautyCam service was available on Shopee Singapore’s app from July 27 to 29 in connection with L’Oreal’s “International Lipstick Day” promotion. It’s scheduled to roll out across other make-up products in the future. Effaclar Spotscan is scheduled to be available from August 12 to 15 in conjunction with L’Oreal’s “Your Best Skin Yet” campaign.

Shopee ranks first among Southeast Asia’s e-commerce sites based on traffic. It ranks second based on active users.
