CornerJob, a Barcelona-based gig site that operates in Spain, Italy, France and Mexico, is to be acquired by Spanish human resources firm Eurofirms. CornerJob CEO David Rodriguez confirmed the deal to the AIM Group, though no official statement has been made yet.
Expansion newspaper reported that Eurofirms, which is based in Girona and had sales of €386 million ($424 million U.S.) in 2018, is in the process of buying CornerJob’s parent company, Job Digital Networks. No terms or other details are available at present.
CornerJob was founded in 2015 by Rodriguez (LinkedIn profile), Mauro Maltagliati, Miguel Vicente, and Gerard Olivé, in the Antai Venture Builder incubator, which launched generalist marketplace Wallapop and reverse auction auto site CarNovo, among other companies.
CornerJob launched in Italy, and quickly expanded to its native Spain, France and Mexico. In 2017 it was named Spain’s fastest growing company in terms of revenue.
It has raised around $57 million U.S. in four rounds by 22 investors (Crunchbase). According to figures from early 2019, CornerJob has more than one million monthly users, and works with over 350,000 businesses to post 80,000+ jobs every month. It grew its user base by 50 percent and client roster by 75 percent between July 2018 and February 2019.
