Russmedia International, the venture capital arm of the Austrian media firm Russmedia, has reinvested an undisclosed amount in the camper lending and renting platform PaulCamper GmbH, as part of a Series A financing round totalling €7 million ($7.7 million U.S).
Mairdumont Ventures is the other existing investor participating in the funding round, led by Adevinta with the participation of the specialists in digital marketplaces FJ Labs, a New-York based investment firm, and Bilbao-based All Iron Ventures.
Russmedia International already invested €3.7 million ($4.0 million U.S.) in a pre-Series A round alongside Mairdumont Ventures, the venture capital arm of the Mairdumont Group, to take over the stake held by Brandenburg Kapital GmbH, the venture capital fund that operates on behalf of the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of Brandenburg in Germany.
PaulCamper will use the cash to consolidate its position in Germany as well as to accelerate its growth and improve the product, the founder of the firm Dirk Fehse said.
“PaulCamper operates in a very exciting and fast-growing market: the outdoor travel market,” said Adevinta VP of Ventures Jussi Lystimäki. “The team and vision of PaulCamper convinced us and we look forward to sharing our expertise in growing online marketplaces with them,” he added.
Founded in 2013, Berlin-based PaulCamper is a platform that offers a fleet of over 5,000 different campervans, box vans, alcoves, semi- and fully-integrated caravans in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. Booking requests are forwarded directly to the owner of the vehicle.
