Axel Springer’s expansion drive continues as the German media group on Friday announced it had completed the acquisition of French online real estate site MeilleursAgents in a deal worth €200 million ($218 million U.S.).

MeilleursAgents is one of the top property sites in France. It specializes in providing online real estate valuations and works with 12,000 real estate agents every day.

The acquisition is strengthening Springer’s position in the French online property sector with the Berlin-based publisher adding to its notable portfolio – which includes leading real estate verticals SeLoger and Logic-Immo.

“The acquisition of MeilleursAgents is of strategic importance,” said Andreas Wiele, president classifieds media at Axel Springer. “It will enable us to support the digitalization of the market and to further develop real estate search and brokerage. In France, MeilleursAgents perfectly complements SeLoger and Logic-Immo.”

MeilleursAgents is now planning to go international as CEO, Sébastien de Lafond, added. “This merger is great news for MeilleursAgents and its teams. We can now roll out our data expertise internationally and contribute to the digitization of the European real estate markets,” he said.

Springer is keen to grow its global business and is expected to make more ambitious acquisitions following the recent buyout offer by U.S. investor KKR, which acquired more than 40% of Springer shares last month.
