British rental portal has appointed former PurpleBricks director Michael Booth as head of recruitment. Booth (LinkedIn profile) will help train and recruit landlords to join as business partners in its franchise model.

“The industry has long needed change and I firmly believe that we will be the ones to do it. Our bespoke service and round-the-clock centralised teams will enable our local consultants to do just that,” said Booth. is a PurpleBricks-style rental portal that links local experts with tenants, automating most tasks to reduce franchisees set up costs.

This August, the company said it planned to have franchisees in 12 areas by the end of the year and hopes to expand nationwide.

Franchisees pay nothing to start but are charged £1,000 ($1,230 U.S.) at the end of the year, with the price expected to increase in early 2020. They also pay £100 a month or 5 percent of revenue, whichever is greater, on an ongoing basis.

The company has hired other ex-PurpleBricks employees, including Julie Findlater (LinkedIn profile), previously a PurpleBricks rental owner in Scotland, as property manager for the U.K.

Other recent hires include Baktash Noori (LinkedIn profile) as product owner, joining from brand asset management company Notamvis and Matthew Pickup (LinkedIn profile) as marketing manager, hired from MCR Property Group.

“We’re passionate about building teams of highly experienced and skilled property, IT and marketing professionals so I’m really pleased with the team that we’re building,” said co-founder Aaron Short, “We’ve steadily built a backend team at based on the best talent, and now that we’ve launched it’s crucial that we continue to make the very best hires.”

In July, said it expected to recruit 50 employees over the next three years.
