Blocket, the Swedish classifieds giant, will appoint four new “marketplace directors.” Pernilla Nissler, who became CEO of the Schibsted-owned company earlier this year, announced the change. The team is one of several attempts by Nissler to revamp the 250-employee company, which used to be the leading star among the Schibsted/Adevinta companies.
Schibsted set revenue targets for Blocket at 8-12 percent annual growth, which the company has struggled to hit. Last year, Blocket’s revenue dropped by 3 percent in Q4. This year started slightly better than 2018, but the company still experienced a drop in revenue in H1.
Anette Karlberg (LinkedIn profile), currently head of Blocket’s PR department, will serve as the marketplace director for Buy and Sell. Over the past few months, Karlberg has taken a larger role in business development for the company.
Alexander Greidinger (LinkedIn profile) will become the marketplace director for jobs. Greidinger is an experienced leader in the digital industry, most recently working on Blocket’s new education vertical.
Tobias Calminder (LinkedIn profile) will be the company’s new and adjacent growth director. Calminder started as a management trainee at Schibsted in 2009. He has held several positions at the company and served as CEO of SCM Ventures.
Blocket is run by a special management team, which sits above the company’s management structure. The new marketplace directors are not part of this team but will report to Andreas Bengtsson, head of offering at Blocket.
Recent additions to the special management team include Maria Nylén (LinkedIn profile), head of people and culture, who replaced Anna Bergius, and Martina Göransson, (LinkedIn profile) head of marketing and customers, who replaced Cecilia von Krusenstierna.
