Leading Spanish job board InfoEmpleo.com has promoted long-serving manager Teresa Tomas to CEO. She replaced Jorge Guelbenzu Lapresta, who held the position for almost six years.
Tomas (LinkedIn profile) joined InfoEmpleo fresh out of business school in 2001. Before the promotion, she served as InfoEmpleo’s customer service and loyalty manager for more than eight years, as well as its portal manager.
One of Tomas’ first projects as CEO will be to highlight the importance of women in technology. Her first presentation highlighted the projected technology skills gap in Europe, the under-representation of women in science and technology and proposed steps to reduce the field’s gender gap.
The AIM Group spoke to outgoing CEO Guelbenzu Lapresta, who noted that 2019 was “a change year” that saw the managing directors of major Spanish recruitment sites — LinkedIn, InfoJobs and InfoEmpleo — leave for new roles. According to Lapresta, this industry shake-up will make 2020 an exciting year of innovation and competition.
