Jumia Group has named Diana Owusu-Kyereko as the first CEO of its Ghana outpost. She is taking over for Ore Odusanya, who served as country manager of the marketplace since 2016.
Owusu-Kyereko has been with Jumia since 2013. She started as a manager in the mobile and tablet category before becoming director of mobile and tablet section of Jumia Africa in 2016. She was then appointed chief commercial officer of Jumia Kenya before being tapped for her current role.
According to Jumia Africa, the group has one of the highest percentage (40%) of female employees in leadership positions such as managers, MDs, and CEOs. Juliet Anammah, chief executive of its largest operation — Jumia Nigeria — is also female. “Women empowerment is one of Jumia’s focus on bridging the gender gap in the workplace,” the company said.
