Content moderation firm Besedo has brought on Willem De Geer as its new chief operations officer. The move comes as the Stockholm-based company expands into Central and South America.
Besedo hired De Geer (LinkedIn profile) from website monitoring firm Pingdom, where he held a similar role. Prior to Pingdom, De Geer was a co-founder of dog walking app DogBuddy, which was acquired by Rover in 2018.
“I am thrilled to join this wonderful bunch of innovators and entrepreneurs,” said De Geer. “Besedo’s products feel more relevant than ever in 2020, and I look forward to being a part of the journey.”
In January, Besedo hired longtime board member Petter Nylander as its new CEO. In a recent interview with the AIM Group, Nylander said the company was working on improving its image-based moderation and integrating artificial intelligence into its products. At the time, Nylander also hinted at the potential for new hires.
“We are excited to have Willem De Geer joining the Besedo Management Team as COO,” said Nylander in a news release. “His strong background from both SaaS and from international expansion and entrepreneurship makes him an excellent fit for us to continue our quest in making Besedo the world leader in content moderation.”
