Ringier Axel Springer Poland will lay off 90 staff, or about 6% of its workforce, by the end of June. The move was announced following successful negotiations with trade union representatives.
The planned layoffs are the result of a strategic reorganization that the publisher began last year. New challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic have accelerated the layoffs, which the company told WirtualneMedia was necessary to maintain financial stability.
The staff reduction will affect several divisions, including editorial, advertising, sales and administration. All dismissed employees will receive severance payments and additional benefits.
Ringier Axel Springer was established in 2010 as a joint venture between Ringier and Axel Springer to combine their international operations in Central and Eastern Europe.
