StepStone, one of Europe’s largest online recruitment marketplaces, has acquired video recruiting platform Cammio, both companies announced on Monday. The company did not disclose the value of the deal.

Cammio is an employer branding and video recruitment company that lets businesses conduct interviews digitally. Based in the Netherlands, the startup offers video services to both recruiters and applicants. The company’s services include digital job interviews, video pitches and video messaging and its affiliate network includes well-known software providers like Oracle and Bullhorn.

StepStone, which is part of Axel Springer’s classifieds media segment, has offered Cammio’s services to recruiters since April. The acquisition allows StepStone to expand its video-based product portfolio.

Over the past few years, video interviews have become an increasingly popular tool for recruiters. Recently, social distancing measures and the ongoing lockdown have pushed companies to adopt video interview technology. Over the past month, the use of video interviews has increased 67%, according to a survey from British staffing firm Robert Walters.

“In the future, the entire recruiting process will increasingly take place digitally and via video,” said StepStone CEO Sebastian Dettmers.

Cammio co-founder and CEO, Walter Hueber, will continue to manage the company after the takeover.

“The cooperation enables us to further exploit the potential of our tool and jointly drive our international growth strategy forward,” said Hueber.
