Juwai IQI, the internationally-focused Chinese property site operator, has appointed Leon Kong as general manager of online advertising solutions. Kong is the founder of IProperty Group, which operates property sites across Southeast Asia.
Kong has been with Juwai IQI since 2019 in a consulting role. Now, he will be responsible for leading advertising initiatives at Juwai.com and Juwai.asia, the company’s two real estate portals. Juwai.com is the No. 1 marketplace for overseas property in China, while Juwai.asia focuses on non-Chinese Asian buyers.
“At Juwai IQI, we have the technology, the platform, and the consumer reach to deliver to agents and developers the leads and sales that they need,” Kong said. “I look forward to helping members of the real estate industry around the world achieve sales in this difficult time.”
Kong has almost 20 years of experience leading online real estate businesses. He co-founded IProperty Group, then one of Southeast Asia’s most successful startups, in 2003. The group operates real estate sites in several Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. IProperty Group was sold in 2015 to the REA Group. At the time, the group was valued at $534 million.
“We couldn’t have anyone better than Leon to lead our sales team,” said Georg Chmiel, the executive chairman of Juwai IQI. “At IProperty Group, he achieved an agent penetration rate of 80%, a key element in its success. Again and again, he has proven his ability to build successful relationships with agents and developers, to drive sales growth, and to build a thriving and motivated team.”
