Alma Media-owned Alma Career has acquired a 10% stake in the digital staffing services company Treamer for €500,000 ($583,446). The agreement also includes subsequent investments in two stages totaling €1 million ($1.2 million U.S.), assuming it reaches certain targets.

Treamer connects manual laborers and companies seeking their services, both on a gig basis and for long-term employment.

In 2019, Treamer’s largest customers were the City of Helsinki, Palmia, Lassila & Tikanoja and Heinon Tukku. The company’s revenue model is based on service fees collected from customers in the form of percentage-based commissions.

Established in 2015, Treamer now has more than 40,000 registered users, and the company’s total revenue in 2019 amounted to €1.7 million ($2 million).

The investment in Treamer is a natural step in the development of Alma Media’s digital services. It also provides Alma Career with an opportunity to monitor the rapid digital transformation of the staffing services market, said Vesa-Pekka Kirsi, head of Alma Markets division at Alma Media, in a news release announcing the transaction.

Alma Media owns a variety of recruitment sites, including Monster.fi, Jobs.cz, Prace.cz, CV Online, Profesia.sk, Workania.hu, MojPosao.net and Monster.cz. In addition, Alma Media owns minority interests in recruitment sites in Serbia and Macedonia.

The Finnish company focuses on digital services and publishing and operates in several Nordic countries, the Baltics and Central Europe. The company is listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
