Caio Ribeiro has left MercadoLibre, the executive said in a LinkedIn post this week. Ribiero (LinkedIn profile) had served as head of classifieds in Latin America.
MercadoLibre, also known as Meli, is a leading e-commerce and classifieds site operating in several Latin American countries.
“I didn’t think I was going to see this day. The day I would say good-bye to the place I’ve called home for the last ten years,” he said. He didn’t elaborate on the reasons behind the move but said that he had been gone since the start of the month.
“With such mixed feelings of pride and nostalgia, feeling butterflies in my stomach but also willing to chase new opportunities, I’d like to thank all those I had the opportunity to be in touch with in these years,” he added.
Ribeiro started in MercadoLibre as head of classifieds and business development in the company’s São Paulo office. He was then promoted to director of classifieds, LatAm director of classifieds, and more recently, senior LatAm director of classifieds, where he reported directly to Martin Lawson, vice-president and head of classifieds at Meli.
