MercadoLibre (Nasdaq:Meli), an e-commerce and classifieds site operating in several Latin American countries, said it will invest a combined $100 million over the next two years to launch its Chilean distribution center.

Meli said the site is the company’s first distribution center in Chile.

Meli has grown its marketplace business and has launched distribution centers in several Latin American countries, including Brazil and Argentina, to support its logistics and payments businesses.

A Chilean official estimated the new site could generate 5,000 new job positions.

Meli expects to store up to 400,000 products.
