Noel Watson, who recently handed in his notice as CFO of TrueCar, will join LegalZoom as its CFO.

Watson (LinkedIn profile) will lead the company’s finance and accounting functions, LegalZoom stated in an announcement.
With 20 years of experience in financial leadership, including 13 years at TripAdvisor, Watson joined TrueCar in May 2019. His tenure coincided with a tumultuous period for the company and major turnover in leadership, starting with the exit of long-time CEO Chip Perry in July 2019.
Privately held LegalZoom, based not far from TrueCar in the L.A. area, is an online legal technology firm that helps customers create wills, trademark applications and other legal documents without necessarily needing a lawyer. LegalZoom has raised $811 million in funding, according to Crunchbase.
“I am excited to join LegalZoom’s executive team and lead its finance function at this period of significant growth for the company,” Watson wrote in the hiring announcement.
Watson is scheduled to help deliver TrueCar’s Q3 earnings report on Thursday. His official last day at TrueCar is Nov. 16, and his first day at LegalZoom is set for the next day.
