Neil Smith has left his role as retail operations director at U.K.-based digital dealer Cazoo.

Smith (LinkedIn profile) was hired by Cazoo to oversee the integration of the Imperial Car Supermarket sites and roll-out and management of Cazoo’s new customer collection centers after Cazoo acquired the company in July for an undisclosed amount. His role involved turning some sites into customer collection centres for Cazoo and closing others.

In a LinkedIn post, Smith said he plans to continue working in the automotive retail sector after taking a break to spend time with his family. “The last Imperial site has closed so my work is now done,” Smith said.

“At Cazoo I engaged with some great people, all who share a common business goal delivered within a fantastic culture.”

Smith added that he wants to remain in the industry and share his expertise in a non-commercial manner.

He set up support networks and discussion forums via social media so car dealers could share ideas and best practice when Covid-19 began disrupting the industry in March, while still working at Imperial Cars.
