Pakistan is testing a centralized job board to promote vacancies in the public sector. Currently, sanction posts in the country have a 10% vacancy rate.
NJP is an initiative of the federal government and aims to digitize job vacancies across its departments and institutions. Like any other job board, NJP will let job-seekers upload resumes and apply to any listed positions.
According to a latest official estimate, the federal government had 660,000 sanctioned posts available in 2019. By the end of the year, over 81,000 remained vacant.
This is a new step in the Pakistani government’s digital transformation. Historically, the government has relied primarily on print media and job classifieds to recruit workers.
