Talent Inc., a recruitment services and resume-writing company based in New York, has been sold. Sources told the AIM Group that BV Investment L.P., a Boston-based investment company that focuses on business services and information technology, bought the business for a nine-figure amount.
A spokesman for BV Investment declined comment. Neither Jeff Berger, Talent Inc. founder and CEO, nor Todd Goldstein, the company’s EVP, could be reached for comment.
Talent Inc. was founded in 2014 as a resume writing service, and has grown to offer related services. Its brands include Top Resume, Top CV, Top Interview and ResumeRabbit. It uses a network of freelance, contract and staff writers, including a team based in South Africa, to produce resumes and CVs for job-seekers.
Talent Inc. works with recruitment advertising sites and job boards, offering them a revenue share for leads from their users. Berger and Goldstein were frequent speakers and sponsors at industry conferences, including the AIM Group’s RecTech and RecBuzz conferences.
The company raised $5.3 million in three rounds, starting in 2014 and wrapping up with a $1.5 million round in 2016, according to Crunchbase. Sources told the AIM Group the deal was in the works “for some time,” and that the company’s investors and senior executives were happy with the outcome.
BV’s website shows active investments in 20 companies, including several in the education technology field (EdTech Holdings), training and support in the oil and gas industry (PetroSkills) and digital marketing and analytics (C-4 Analytics). It says, “We look to partner with owners and management of businesses that provide solutions and services that collect, store, disseminate, process and utilize the information and data being collected.”
