Talent, Inc., a CV-writing firm recently acquired by BV Investment, has announced Byron Matthews is replacing Jeff Berger as CEO and Mike Ricciardelli is its new president and COO.
Berger, who founded the company in 2014, wrote in a LinkedIn post Thursday:
“Building this company has been my greatest experience and professional achievement, but after seven years, I’m excited to take some time off and begin the next chapter. I know the business is in great hands, and I’m looking forward to seeing the continued growth from the sidelines!”
In its announcement, which confirmed our report last month. BV Investment said it had acquired a majority stake in Talent Inc. but didn’t disclose the price, noting only that it focuses its investments on firms with valued at $75 million to $200 million. A source told the AIM Group last month that the deal was worth approximately $100 million.
BV said it “seeks to rapidly increase the growth of the company through a customized growth plan which includes such initiatives as: building the team, expanding its addressable market, developing new products and service offerings, and m-and-a’s.”
Matthews, the new CEO, (LinkedIn profile) has worked more than 25 years in sales management, most recently as chief commercial officer at management consultancy Korn Ferry Digital. Previous employers have included sales-process company Miller Heiman, acquired by Korn Ferry in 2019, and insurance provider Aflac.
Ricciardelli (LinkedIn profile) takes on his duties after an eight-year tenure at BV Investment, most recently as senior managing director and operating partner. Before his focus on investments, he held leadership roles at a string of technology firms, including VP of marketing and media sales at Classified Ventures, then owner of Apartments.com, from 2004 to 2005.
Talent Inc. was founded in 2014 as a resume-writing service, and has grown to offer related services. Its brands include Top Resume, Top CV, Top Interview and ResumeRabbit. It uses a network of freelance, contract and staff writers, including a team based in South Africa, to produce resumes and CVs for job-seekers.
Talent Inc. works with recruitment advertising sites and job boards, offering them a revenue share for leads from their users.
The company raised $5.3 million in three rounds, starting in 2014 and wrapping up with a $1.5 million round in 2016, according to Crunchbase.
BV Investment, founded in 1983, has invested approximately $3.8 billion, focusing on business services, software and IT services industries.
