HeyCar Germany has appointed Stephen Ballot as its new chief product officer, the company announced Tuesday.
Ballot (LinkedIn profile) joins HeyCar from OLX Group Berlin, where he held several strategic positions, including director of product management.
“With Stephen Ballot we have a proven expert on online classifieds and product management in our ranks. He fits perfectly into our team — with his expertise and experience he will help us keep up the pace in upholding our product design,” said Reinhard Schmidt, CEO at HeyCar Germany.
Before joining HeyCar, Ballot worked for OLX Group, where he started out as head of product in South Africa before becoming director of product management. He also worked at Naspers Group in Cape Town and founded his own company as a software engineer.
“In terms of usability HeyCar is already setting the standard for online platforms. It is my goal to make the transaction processes via heycar.de as customer-oriented and as user-friendly as possible. The market conditions for this are currently ideal,” said Ballot.
HeyCar launched in 2017 with financial backing from Daimler. The company’s shareholders include Volkswagen Financial Services, Volkswagen AG and Daimler Mobility Service. The startup quickly established itself as one of the leading car verticals in Germany. It currently offers 400,000 vehicles from around 2,000 dealer groups.
