Alex Szapiro, VP and country manager Brazil at Amazon will leave the company to take on a SoftBank role, the AIM Group has learned.

SoftBank is an investor in several marketplaces, including jobs site Job and Talent and automotive-focused holding Auto1 Group. In Latin America, it invested in autos marketplace Kavak, IBuying real estate company Loft and real estate rental platform QuintoAndar.

Szapiro (LinkedIn profile) will lead SBLA Advisers Corp, the manager of the SoftBank Latin America Fund. The ex-Amazon executive will work as an operating partner and head of Brazil effectively on April 13, SoftBank said.

“Szapiro will be based in São Paulo and will oversee the Latin America Fund’s investments, operations and team in Brazil. He will report to Marcelo Claure, Corporate Officer, Executive Vice President and COO of SoftBank Group Corp., CEO of and CEO of SBLA,” SoftBank said.

Szapiro has over 25 years of experience managing corporate and entrepreneurial ventures at leading technology companies across Brazil.
