Auto marketplace HeyCar Germany has appointed Zoltan Maklary as its new marketing director, the company announced Wednesday. Maklary is responsible for HeyCar’s online marketing as well as customer service.

HeyCar launched in 2017 with financial backing from Daimler. The company’s shareholders include Volkswagen Financial Services, Volkswagen AG and Daimler Mobility Service. The start-up quickly established itself as one of the leading car verticals in Germany. It now offers around 300,000 vehicles from 2,000 dealer groups.

Before joining HeyCar on Apr. 1, Maklary held several high-level marketing posts, including at German e-commerce company DaWanda which was later taken over by Etsy.

“Zoltan is a proven expert in cross-channel marketing and has a clear focus on online-first approaches in e-commerce. He took over marketing at HeyCar in a phase in which we managed to achieve enormous increases in brand awareness,” said HeyCar Germany CEO Reinhard Schmidt. “It will now be his job to increase the traffic for our offer and the leads for our dealers in a targeted manner.”

Maklary succeeds Nicolas Köhn, who has expanded his area of ​​responsibility within the company as chief commercial officer and is now in charge of the classifieds business of HeyCar Germany.
