Adevinta Spain is looking to recruit around 100 staff, taking its total team to 1,250. This continues its trend of steady personnel growth despite Covid-19 and the dire straits of the economy as a whole.
According to Investing.com, Adevinta Spain CEO Gianpaola Santorsola said the company is always looking for talent, and noted it hired 34 people in 2020. He said the key roles it is looking to fill are product managers, software developers and data experts.
Though general unemployment is high in Spain, demand exceeds supply for tech roles. Santorsola joked in the interview that he should complain, since he is the overall manager of leading recruitment portal InfoJobs.net.
Perhaps not coincidentally, in March 2021, InfoJobs announced the launch of a niche tech job board, Tech Talent, in cooperation with Barcelona Tech City. The new sub-site is one of several tech recruitment-focused initiatives InfoJobs has deployed in the past two years, which include sponsorship of an e-sports team, raising brand awareness among young digital enthusiasts.
Despite the catastrophic events of 2020, Adevinta Spain lost just 6% in quarterly year-on-year revenue. This figure justifies the confidence its recruitment drive implies. However, it will be interesting to see if increasing physical availability of goods and services affects its platforms, and how the inevitable economic downtown will play out.
