India-based auto marketplace CarDekho has appointed Mayank Jain as the CEO of its new auto business.

Mayank Jain (LinkedIn profile) will lead operations for the new auto venture, according to a company announcement. Jain has been entrusted with strengthening CarDekho’s new auto offering and deepening engagement with OEMs, dealer networks and other enterprise partners. Jain is currently working out of the company’s Gurugram office.

“I am delighted to join the CarDekho group and have the opportunity to work with one of the best teams in the AutoTech space,” Jain said. “It’s an exciting time for the industry, and I look forward to scaling the new auto business by delivering greater value to our partner customers.”

Commenting on the appointment, Amit Jain, co-founder of CarDekho, said, “Mayank is a highly reputed professional in the media world and has an impressive track record of scaling businesses across varied industries. His deep customer understanding and expertise will enable us to design and provide the best AutoTech solutions to our partner customers.”

A computer engineer and an alumni of INSEAD, Jain boasts eighteen years of experience in the technology, media and telecom sectors. His career has included stints at Samsung, British Telecom, Star TV, and Network 18. He now joins CarDekho as its parent company GirnarSoft expands its footprint in India and new Southeast Asian markets.

The company recently deployed $25 million U.S. for expansion into Malaysia and Thailand. Last year, CarDekho managed to gain traction in Indonesia and Philippines through its subsidiaries, ZigWheels, Carmudi and OTO.com. The company recently made headlines because of its partnership with JK Tyre, a leading tire manufacturer, for a doorstep tire delivery service.
