Prosus-backed OLX.pl has rolled out a new feature to prevent scam attempts on its platform. It makes it easier for users to report a scam and to claim a refund if a product purchased with an online payment doesn’t measure up to the listing.
Buyers have 24 hours to report a scam attempt from the moment they collect the package. They can do it using the button visible after logging in to the OLX account. After that time the button will disappear and the money will be transferred into the seller’s bank account.
It is another move by OLX to help hinder scam attempts on the horizontal. Earlier this year, OLX made telephone numbers of sellers on its platform available for logged-in users only and increased the upper limit on its buyer protection service by 1,500% to protect users from fraud.
OLX Poland has been coping with the growth of fraud on the platform since it launched online payments using technology from Adyen last year.
OLX.pl is the largest general classifieds site in Poland. In July, it received a total of 114.8 million visits to its web and mobile sites, according to SimilarWeb.
