Patreon.com, which connects digital creators with fans, has acquired digital recruiting specialist ClearTalent to tap into new revenue streams, innovate products and expand its trade workforce. Terms were not disclosed.
Under the deal, all 40 members of ClearTalent will join Patreon, and ClearTalent CEO Rockman Ha has been appointed head of talent acquisition, according to media reports.
Founded in 2013, U.S.-based Patreon enables creators, such as videographers and podcasters, to earn directly from their followers. It has 200,000 member-creators.
The firm’s valuation exceeded $4 billion after it raised $155 million in April in a funding round led by Tiger Global Management.
Patreon envisions itself as a place where users manage all their businesses. The company wants to add 200 more employees to its existing workforce of 300 persons, and is weighing international offerings, Julian Gutman, Patreon’s chief product officer told Reuters.
Clear Talent, founded in 2018, is a worthy partner in this venture because of its expertise in building out technical teams to kickstart growth.
The acquisition came as short video-sharing app TikTok also forayed into recruitment to capitalize on its huge users base.
