James Jin Cheng, the VP at China-based recruitment marketplace Zhaopin, has left the company to become chief financial officer at Canaan Creative (NASDAQ: CAN), a China-based computer manufacturer.
Canaan’s CFO position was left vacant by Quanfu Hong, who resigned in February. While appointing Cheng as the new CFO, the company announced that Tong He would no longer be acting CFO, but would remain the director of finance.
Cheng has over 20 years of experience in financial planning and management. He served as a vice president for Zhaopin.com, a career site in China, which was listed on the NYSE until its privatization in July 2021. Before joining Zhaopin.com, Cheng was director of finance for Lenovo’s China and Asia Pacific Division and held several managerial roles at Nokia China.
Canaan is a technology company focusing on high-performance computing chips, equipment, and software services.
Nangeng Zhang, Canann’s CEO acknowledged Cheng’s experience and expertise in finance and capital markets, as well as his understanding of the electronics industry. “We look forward to working with James as we launch into our new growth cycle,” said Zhang.
