Shift, an online used-car retailer (NASDAQ: SFT), has appointed Jeff Clementz as its new president. Clementz has a long career in e-commerce and has held several roles at payments and marketplace businesses.
Clementz (LinkedIn profile) was most recently the senior VP and general manager at Walmart’s Marketplace and Partner Operations. He spent the past six years at the retail company and helped grow its digital marketplace business to become one of the largest in the country. Before joining Walmart, Clementz was instrumental in engineering PayPal’s international expansion.
“I am honored to serve as President of this incredible company dedicated to reimagining what the car buying and selling experience can and should look like, and to join an innovative, high growth team,” said Clementz. “Shift is truly a unique combination of technology, operations, and cost-conscious retail. I’m thrilled to leverage my experience to continue building on Shift’s success.”
Shift’s decision to hire Clementz comes as the company looks to ramp up its operations. The company was profitable in 2020, its first full year of operations after going public.
