Kaspi.kz, the Kazakhstan-based fintech and e-commerce company, is currently negotiating to acquire Rozetka, a Ukraine-based holding group which owns b-to-c marketplace Rozetka.ua, b-to-c marketplace Prom.ua, c-to-c fashion marketplace Shafa and other smaller classified businesses, primarily in general goods.
Why Kaspi interested in Rozetka? Rozetka is one of the most valuable and most famous Ukrainian brands. Its annual revenue totals almost $670 million U.S. With few other major classified brands available across Eastern Europe, it’s a good target.
Rozetka is currently developing its own delivery and logistics service. Kaspi.kz plans to build a tech hub and create a large IT department in Ukraine.
The valuation of Rozetka can reach up to $1 billion U.S., though it’s unlikely Kaspi will pay that much.
