Jeff LeBeau will take over as CEO of Mercari Japan in Jan. 2022. Currently, LeBeau is the horizontal’s chief product officer and VP of Analytics.

LeBeau (LinkedIn profile) joined Mercari U.S. as business operations manager in June 2017. He was transferred to Tokyo from San Francisco the following year.

As CPO, he has been responsible for devising product strategies and roadmaps for medium- and long-term growth.

LeBeau will take the wheel from outgoing Mercari Japan CEO Hirohisa Tamonoki, (LinkedIn profile) who has led the company since February 2017.

Mercari said the Japanese operation is centered on developing engineering expertise.

“The Mercari Group will continue to strive to achieve its mission of creating a global marketplace that creates new value,” it said. Founded in 2013, Mercari also operates in the U.S.

After attaining a BSc in Economics from the University of Oregon, LeBeau worked as an independent contractor localizing web services from Sept. 2008 to Mar. 2015. He also worked at hardware startup Logbar in Tokyo and as a strategist at CyberAgent, Inc.
