Allegro, the operator of leading b-to-c and c-to-c marketplaces in Poland, will open five new tech hubs in Katowice, Łódź, Gdansk, Lublin and Wrocław in the first quarter of 2022.
The company is planning to hire several hundred tech people, who will be responsible mainly for innovative software development, to staff its new sites. By expanding the tech team Allegro wants to scale up its operations and reach out to a new talent pool outside its current locations.
Allegro employs around 2,500 staff, the majority of whom work in the company headquarters in Poznań, as well as Warsaw and Krakow. It also has a branch in Toruń and logistics centers in Błonie and Adamów near Warsaw.
FY2020 net revenue was PLN 4 billion ($1.1 billion U.S.), up by 54.2% from PLN 2.6 billion in FY2019. Adjusted EBITDA was PLN 1.8 billion ($475 million U.S.) last year, which was 30.8% more than in FY2019.
As of the end of 2020, Allegro had around 13 million active buyers on its marketplace, an increase of almost 15% from 2019.
