Adevinta Spain’s property marketplace Fotocasa has launched “Guía del Barrio” (Neighborhood Guide), with the aim of providing users with detailed information on every neighborhood and district in the country.

Guía del Barrio integrates Fotocasa’s internal data with external sources to provide information on property listings, as well as on the median purchasing price and monthly rent in an area, local services (schools, hospitals, public transport, retail options etc.) and user opinions (what existing residents think of the area), in addition to photo galleries and images from Google Street View.

Fotocasa’s director of research and spokesperson María Matos said, “Guía del Barrio is what our users have been asking for to improve their property search experience. Many people are wary of searching for property in areas that they do not know, but lack the time to do research on all the areas where there are homes that they like. This functionality will let them save time.”

Rival Idealista already offers Idealista/maps, which provides data on average property prices and rents, in addition to granular data on individual streets and even buildings. However, it lacks the user opinions and photographic elements of Fotocasa’s offer, as it is primarily a tool for evaluating the value of a home.
