U.K.-based used-car marketplace Motorway has appointed Victoria Biggs for its newly created role of chief communications officer.
Biggs (LinkedIn profile) joins from Trainline and has over 20 years of communications experience, including performing the role of PR director at eBay. At Trainline she was involved in listing the company on the London Stock Exchange.
Motorway matches car retailers with private sellers through an auction system that allows sellers to sell a vehicle just using a smartphone.
“On the back of unprecedented growth in the last 12 months, investing in the best possible talent is imperative to our continued success. And that is exactly what we have found in Victoria,” said Tom Leathes, CEO of Motorway.
“Her incredible experience working for high growth tech companies like Trainline and EBay makes her an invaluable addition to our team – both spearheading our sustainability strategy and leading our communications as the business continues to grow at an accelerated pace.”
The appointment of Biggs comes a month after Motorway recruited James Wilson as chief operating officer, joining from Amazon. In November, Motorway achieved unicorn status after being valued at £750 million ($1 billion U.S.) following its latest funding round.
“I’m excited to be joining a business that has such a strong customer focus and is harnessing the power of technology to build a better car market for everyone,” said Biggs.
“Motorway has already achieved incredible growth and I’m looking forward to joining the team as we continue to scale and become the most trusted and sustainable used car marketplace.”
