European fashion marketplace Vinted has added a new entertainment category to its fashion and home categories.
The company says that its entertainment offering includes “expanded and improved categories that were previously tucked away in corners of Home and Kids.” Announcing the development, it added, “Entertainment listings are now grouped together in a clear, organized structure to help make listing and selling easier.”
The new section includes video games and consoles, games and puzzles, music and video, and books.
Vinted is not the only fashion marketplace to look beyond apparel. In June 2020, Poshmark announced several new categories, including personal care, and select toys and games. ThredUp also announced its intention to expand into new categories in its Q1 2022 presentation.
Founded in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2008, Vinted has since expanded into Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, the U.K., Italy, Portugal, the U.S., and Canada.
While its competitors, such as Poshmark and ThredUp, have gone public as part of their growth strategies, Vinted has been busy with acquisitions of similar fashion resale marketplaces: Spanish Chicfy in 2019, and Dutch UnitedWardrobe in 2020.
Its GMV was reported to be close to €2.8 billion in December 2021.
