German automobile manufacturer Porsche has launched Porsche Approved, its used cars program in India.

On the program’s dedicated site, customers can explore used cars that carry a minimum 12-months warranty and have been cleared through a 111-point checklist. The luxury sports car maker is promises “near-new” levels of restoration for used cars.

The used cars program is part of the brand’s strategy to keep older cars in circulation, by offering them at considerably lower prices than when they were first introduced. In addition, Porsche is offering 24-hour roadside assistance, among other value add-ons. The same strategy was previously employed by Mercedes-Benz, which also launched a portal for used cars.

“We will review the programme a year from now. Right now, the goal is to keep more Porsches active on Indian roads for many years to come. Right now, with the supply shortages, you could wait for 1-2 years for delivery of a new car, or buy a used car of the same quality right away,” said Manolito Vujicic, brand director at Porsche India.

Another added incentive for launching the used cars program is the 62% year-on-year increase in Porsche car sales in 2021 in India. A record 474 sports cars were sold in 2021—the highest since 2014. According to Mordor Intelligence, the luxury car market in India, which was valued at $1.06 billion in 2021, is expected to grow to $1.54 billion by 2027, at a compound annual growth rate of 6.4%.
