Online automotive marketplace CarWow has appointed Sally Foote as U.K. managing director.

Foote (LinkedIn profile) is the latest in a series of new appointments, as the U.K.-based company embarks on an ambitious phase of growth. She has extensive digital experience, having served as VP of e-commerce at financial comparison site GoCompare and chief innovation officer at PhotoBox.

Foote will continue in her role as board advisor at sustainable home products provider Bower Collective. She has also worked at The Guardian and The Times and Sunday Times, where she helped launch the subscription service.

In her new role, Foote will manage a team of over 50 and look after all aspects of the U.K. business from commercial to operations, acquisitions and account management. She will report to chief operating officer John Veichmanis.

“As more of our dealer and OEM partners focus on building high-growth online-distribution strategies, CarWow is uniquely placed to help our partners connect with millions of consumers that are looking to sell their old car and buy a new one,” said Foote.

The expansion of CarWow’s operations follows an injection of funds from investors in March and $55 million from U.S. investors in December. It then hired four new senior staff and Alastair White as head of sales. The company has had success with its new-car buying platform, set up after it acquired used-car buying platform Wizzle this time last year.

“Across the entire business, we’re super focused on building new capabilities and services to help our partners source and sell quality used stock online in parallel with our investments in our new-car selling platform,” said Veichmanis.
