upGrad, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Rekrut, acquired Wolves India, a startup specializing in placing tech talent across client organizations, for an undisclosed sum.

According to a report, Bengaluru-based Wolves India provides recruitment and staffing services to startups, SMEs, and large-sized organizations in India and overseas. With a core team of 70 professionals, Wolves India has closed over 5,000 placements in technology and product roles thus far. Wolves India will operate as a standalone subsidiary of upGrad Rekrut.

“With upGrad Rekrut, we saw our learners receiving record-breaking CTCs during FY2022. The joining of Wolves India will give us an edge in the tech ecosystem,” said Mayank Kumar, co-founder and managing director of upGrad. Wolves India has developed proprietary products such as Byte.Tech and Quasara, a space sector recruitment platform.

“We will support upGrad to present world-class tech job opportunities to its learners and, together with upGrad Rekrut, create a market leader in tech hiring,” said Raghu S, founder and director of Wolves India. Following this acquisition, upGrad bought an online learning institution called Harappa Education for $38 million U.S.

upGrad announced its intent to onboard over 1,000 employees, some from its own talent pool, over the next quarter. The acquisitions and mergers come on the back of an increased need for skilled talent globally, in response to which many are signing up for upskilling platforms. upGrad alone boasts a three-million learner base across more than 100 countries and partnerships with more than 300 universities across the globe.
