The IBuyer said that Rath would “build Redfin’s relationships with multiple listing services, associations, brokerages and other industry partners across North America,” and coordinate the company’s network of brokers and agents to “advocate for local, state and national policies that advance industry innovation, foster a fair and transparent real estate marketplace, ensure equitable data access and attribution, and benefit agents and consumers.”

Rath (LinkedIn profile) has worked as a realtor, state broker and regional director at Redfin, as well as serving on several volunteer boards and committees, including ACAR (Akron-Cleveland Association of Realtors) and the NAR (National Association of Realtors).

He joined Redfin in 2014 when he launched the brokerage in the Cleveland and Columbus markets, and went on to serve as a director of real estate operations overseeing markets, including Chicago, Miami, Nashville, Toronto and Vancouver.

“Joe comes from a real estate family and understands the day-to-day challenges that brokers and agents face and the complicated dynamics of this industry,” said Jason Aleem, Redfin’s senior vice president of real estate sales.

“He’s a clear communicator, effective relationship builder and strategic leader who will be a strong advocate for policies that improve the agent experience and help us all better serve our clients.”

Redfin is a discount brokerage that also works in mortgages. Founded in 2006, the Seattle-based company is active on more than 95 markets across the U.S. and Canada with a headcount of over 4,100.
