Franz Bürgi, who has been CIO of the TX Group since mid-2017, is moving to Tamedia, a subsidiary of TX Media, still as CIO. He will be replaced at the TX Group by Simon Maurer.

Bürgi will start work as CIO of Tamedia on Nov. 1, also serving as a member of the executive board. The paid media technology and publishing technology solutions divisions will report to him, and Bürgi will in turn report to Tamedia co-managing director Andreas Schaffner in his new role.

Bürgi’s successor Maurer will start working for TX Group at the same time. He will be responsible for the newly created group IT & shared services division. In this area, the cloud ERP, business analytics, corporate procurement and group operations teams, which he currently heads, will be merged with the remaining IT teams at group level and the group’s nearshoring activities at TX Services in Belgrade under one management. Maurer will report to group COO Sandro Macciacchini.

“As CIO at TX Group, Franz Bürgi played a key role in driving forward the development of the IT infrastructure,” Schaffner was quoted as saying. “In view of the massive changes brought about by the digital transformation, he is the right man to adapt the infrastructure at Tamedia to the future challenges. I look forward to working with him.”

Macciacchini added, “With Simon Maurer we have the ideal successor as group CIO and head of the newly created area ‘group IT & shared services.’ He is an experienced transformation leader and knows the group as well as the technology and service areas very well and will ensure the continuity and further development of the new area.”

The TX Group, headquartered in Zurich, is a network of platforms and the second largest media company in Switzerland, owner of newspapers Tamedia and 20 Minuten. It is the anchor shareholder of SMG Swiss Marketplace Group, a joint venture between Scout24 Switzerland and TX Markets that consists of a network of online marketplaces, and JobCloud.
