MG Motor U.K. is to create a closed digital network on Dealer Auction, the online marketplace for used vehicles.

It is the latest OEM to try and engage directly with its U.K. retailers. MG Motor U.K. will offer second hand, low mileage vehicles to its retailers as wholesale purchases. The closed network can also be used for retailer-to-retailer sales or to acquire stock direct from fleets and leasing companies using both times and buy-it-now auction formats.

“We are constantly looking for ways to strengthen and widen the support we give to our retailers, and Dealer Auction’s closed network function enables us to really level up in this regard, maximising the vehicle lifetime revenue,” said Geraint Isaac, head of fleet sales at MG Motor U.K.

“Now, retailers will enjoy instant visibility of available stock and the flexibility to browse and buy vehicles when it suits them.”

MG Motor U.K. is the latest OEM to create a digital closed network on Dealer Auction, following Hyundai Motor U.K., Nissan Motor (GB), Mobilize Financial Services, and Renault UK.

John Biggs, operations director at Dealer Auction, said: “Closed networks are rapidly moving from a new idea to industry-standard status, and it is not hard to see why,” said Dealer Auction operations director John Biggs.

“Most existing users report improved efficiencies and strong profits across their networks.”
