Barcelona-based MundiMoto, which buys and sells used motorbikes and scooters, is now offering a rental service, website Neomotor reports. Launched over the summer, this online service offers rentals for terms of six, 12 or 24 months with average monthly distance limits of 500km, 1,000km or 1,500km for a fixed monthly price. Kilometres can be added by making a phone call.
Prices range from €128/month ($125 U.S./month) for a Honda Vision 110 to €565/month for a BMW R 1250 GS HP. Like long-term car rentals, these prices include delivery, maintenance, roadside assistance, taxes and fully comprehensive insurance coverage in Spain (and third-part insurance elsewhere in Europe). Users can also rent a helmet for €6/month.
The typical client is a male living in Barcelona, Madrid or Valencia, aged between 30 and 35 years and rents a 125cc scooter for a period of six months, according to the company.
MundiMoto co-founder and CEO Josep Talavera (LinkedIn profile) said: “Motorcycle users must have all the options they want and new ways of using motorcycles, which, until now, seemed reserved exclusively for cars.” However, he noted that demand for service would be seasonal, peaking in the summer.
Founded in 2019, MundiMoto had sales of €15 million last year and forecasts that this figure will reach €100 million in 2022. According to Talavera, “We have been able to digitize a very stagnant market — we are changing an entire sector. We make it easy for the user to buy a second-hand motorcycle: We offer many options, guarantees, the possibility of paying in installments and the ability to return the bike for a full refund within 48 hours.”
