Used-car exporter Be Forward Japan has formed a strategic business alliance with South Korea-based used-car trading app to promote exports.

Be Forward exports an average of 15,000 used cars monthly to 205 countries around the world. It has signed supply agreements with 600 companies in at least nine countries since its establishment in 2004.

Chutcha, founded in 2005 by Mr Pic, is an app for buying and selling used cars. It has been downloaded more than 5.5 million times from Google Play and the Apple Store. In the past three years, the app’s auction service has logged a total transaction amount exceeding KRW 3.9 trillion ($2.9 billion U.S.).

The auction platform registers an average of 100,000 for-sale units per year, compared to an average of 73,000 units sold through offline auction houses in Korea last year, according to the company.

The companies expect to benefit from the synergy between Chutcha’s data technology and Be Forward’s global export capability from the beginning of next year, helping them both to expand their businesses in Korea and send used cars from the country around the world, according to a media statement.
