Madrid-based Shakers, a marketplace for IT professionals, is aiming to increase its revenue to €5 million ($5.4 million U.S.) this year, newspaper El Mundo reports.

The company currently has 25 employees and has worked with more than 150 companies to date. In October 2021, it raised €800,000 in a seed funding round that was led by Clave Capital.

Founded in 2021 by CEO Héctor Mata (LinkedIn profile), Jaime Castillo (LinkedIn profile) and Adrián de Pedro (LinkedIn profile), Shakers currently has around 4,000 registered professionals, who are specialists in product design, software development and digital marketing. Its fee is 15% of the value of each contact.

Castillo, chief growth officer at Shakers, said, “We use artificial intelligence to match these freelancers with companies, so that our platform not only connects a professional by means of their profile, but also takes into account other variables, such as their values, tastes, personality, affinity with the company and interests.”

The company proposes the three best candidates it identifies to each client company, which they can interview in two or three days, saving HR departments time, said Castillo, adding that 35% of vacancies for technological profiles remain unfilled in Spain because traditional HR recruitment is failing.

“[People are leaving corporate roles] … to look for more flexible work models. Most want to manage their time. And they can earn more money if they organize themselves well,” he said.
