Adevinta has appointed Amandine de Souza as managing director of France-based marketplace horizontal LeBonCoin. She will report to Paul Heimann, who leads the re-commerce vertical at parent company Adevinta.

The new MD takes up the reins on Apr 1, replacing CFO Marc Brandsma, who has led the horizontal on an interim basis since Antoine Jouteau was promoted to CEO of parent company Adevinta in August 2022.

According to the hiring announcement, de Souza (LinkedIn profile) has almost two decades of leadership experience in strategic consulting, retail, e-commerce and hospitality. In her most recent position, she sat on the executive committee at Galeries Lafayette, where she led France-based department store BHV and food hall Eataly, as well as managing DIY, home and leisure across the group.

She has also been active as a business angel at Leia Capital, a 100% female fund which invests in early-stage projects launched by women.

Earlier in her career, de Souza worked as a consultant at Bain & Company in Paris and Singapore; for retail chain Groupe Casino, where she rose to the position of international merchandise director; and as CEO of online furniture retailer Westwing Home & Living. She has a Master’s degree in management from ESCP Business School in Paris.

“Amandine has an impressive track record leading growth businesses and, thanks to her background in retail, an excellent understanding of customer needs,” said Jouteau.

“LeBonCoin is one of Adevinta’s most successful assets, and its future potential remains solid, particularly as increased numbers of consumers see the benefits of making more sustainable shopping choices, for their pockets and the planet.”

“By providing a marketplace for people to buy and sell second-hand goods, LeBonCoin is at the forefront of the circular economy and helps consumers make more sustainable choices,” added de Souza.

“I strongly connect with LeBonCoin’s values and look forward to playing my part in shaping the future of sustainable commerce.”

France’s largest online classified marketplace, LeBonCoin has 29 million monthly active users and more than 1,500 employees, according to Adevinta. More than 800,000 ads are published on the site each day, including for cars, homes and jobs.

The France-based horizontal has become the most successful classified venture in the Adevinta portfolio. With Adevinta ramping up its strategy across transactions, LeBonCoin has become the gold standard for transactions among its companies.
