Two former directors of listed car dealer group Lookers have invested in a new automotive technology company.
Andy Bruce (LinkedIn profile) and Nigel McMinn (LinkedIn profile) are currently CEO and COO at Fleet Alliance and Intelligent Car Leasing, the same positions both previously held at Lookers. Both will aim to help AutoComms build a proposition to target fleet vehicle sales.

They have decided to expand their interests by investing an undisclosed sum in AutoComms Solutions, a company that aims to improve customer satisfaction and transform automotive retailer performance by filling the gap between ordering a car and handing it over to the customer. The company helps keep customers interested and excited about the arrival of their new vehicle using personalized content throughout the gap between order and handover.
AutoComms Solution runs handover communications platform AutoBuzz, whose clients include Waylands Automotive and the JCB Group. Both Bruce and McMinn will join the board of AutoComms.
“The founders of AutoComms have identified a huge opportunity within the retail automotive industry around the car buying process,” said Bruce. “‘The technology has proven to positively impact customer satisfaction levels as well as selling additional products and services. The ROI to retailers and OEMs is hugely compelling.”
The pair left Lookers in 20189 after a series of profit warnings and have since been involved in fleet vehicle and leasing businesses.
“We know the retail automotive space well, but we are now immersed in the fleet and leasing sector and AutoBuzz can easily support some key challenges in this world,” said McMinn.
“Fleet managers and their drivers need a lot of information about their vehicle as well as its latest delivery updates.”
